Mount Meru Game Lodge

Mount Meru Game Lodge sits between Arusha Town and Kilimanjaro International Airport at Usa River, established in 1959 by Dr Andreas Von Nagy as a home that grew into a wildlife sanctuary. The main lodge buildings and 24 chalet rooms are immersed in jungle-like gardens with towering palm and mango trees, Colobus monkeys, and a small dam where water buffalo and yellow-billed storks gather.

The lodge holds one of the oldest hotel rooms in Tanzania (built in 1961) and has hosted presidents and European royalty. Rooms blend historic charm with modern comfort, including 20 double rooms (8 interconnected), a single room, family units and wheelchair-accessible rooms added in 2023.
